FAQs

This is my first time to take a Pilates class. Do you recommend that I take a private session first?

Yes! Private sessions are the best way to become familiar with the Pilates exercises and the suite of equipment. Private sessions are especially important for anyone with injuries or medial conditions. Your instructor can assess your ability to join classes and provide appropriate modifications for you when you enter class.

What types of classes do you offer?

Along with Pilates Equipment & Mat we have tons to offer! We host a Gyrokinesis Class at our Gulf Breeze Studio, along with Barre, Pound and Sculpt when you are in the mood to change things up.

GYROKINESIS® classes can be adapted to fit anyone's ability. People from all walks of life take Gyrokinesis classes, including accomplished athletes, fitness enthusiasts, senior citizens, and people recovering from an injury or dealing with a disability. By the end of a Gyrokinesis session, one's entire system is awakened and brought into greater balance. Focus on the breath stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, resulting in a sense of calm, well-being and mental clarity

Pound is a full body workout that utilizes lightweight drumsticks and combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and Pilates inspired movements. It is designed for all fitness levels. Pound is a fun, upbeat workout set to popular music.

Barre is an exercise method combining the foundations of Pilates, yoga, and ballet. It is a full body workout designed to strengthen, stretch, and tone the body. Barre combines cardio with small, controlled isometric movements to target a specific muscle group utilizing a ballet barre, light weights, and other props.

Do you have lockers/showers?

We have cubbies at both studios for you to store your belongings in while taking class, but there are no showers. We do have restrooms and changing rooms to change in before and after work.

Do you provide water?

We have water at both locations and cups are available. We try to be as eco-friendly as possible as we sell glass reuse/ diswashersafe water bottles at purefitnessaparel.com

What time should I arrive for class?

If it is your first time at the studio, please arrive at least 10 minutes before the class to sign the liability waiver, arrange for payment, and take a quick tour of the studio. If it is not your first time, we recommend arriving at least 5 minutes before your class or private.

What is the late arrival and late cancel policy?

We recommend arriving at least 5 minutes before your class or private. However, we know that traffic, work, life, kids, and pets don't always cooperate. In the case that you are more than 5 minutes late to class your reserved spot may be forfeited to a standby client. If you are more than 15 minutes late for a private session without notice, it will be automatically late cancelled. Class participants arriving more than 15 minutes after the start of class can be denied admittance for safety and out of respect for class flow. Beginning a class without a proper warm up can be dangerous, and Pure Pilates wants every client to have a safe experience.

Cancellations within 24 hours of the start time will be considered a late cancel. Package and drop in clients will forfeit a session from their account.

What should I wear? Are socks required?

Yes, please take off your shoes when you enter the studio space and leave your shoes and other belongings in the cubbies. If you do not have grip socks, we have some available for purchase in our retail store. Studio-only shoes are also welcome for those with foot issues that require additional support. Studio-only shoes are shoes that have only been worn in Pure Pilates and never outside. As for clothing, we suggest wearing something that is comfortable to move in. We have a boutique of both men's and women's fitness apparel if you find you need something for class at purefitnessapparel.com

Where should I park?

The Gulf Breeze studio has a spacious parking lot available for use. The Downtown studio has street parking on both Main and Palafox. The City of Pensacola has a convenient parking guide if you're unsure of where to park.

What is the age limit to take classes?

Individuals aged 9+ can attend class with Susan Clark and Kathleen Carter.  Anyone 14+ can attend other staff members classes or sessions, due to insurance restrictions.  .

Scheduling is limited, so please contact the studio at 850-607-2772 to schedule a private session for your child. Please note that a liability waiver, signed by the parent or guardian, must be completed prior to the first session for all minors.

Can I attend if I am pregnant? What if I have another medical condition?

Prenatal pilates is very safe. Always consult your physician before beginning a new course of exercise during pregnancy. If you have been cleared by your physician, we recommend beginning with private session. If you've been taking class with us prior to your pregnancy, you're welcome to continue. Be sure to let the instructor know so we may provide appropriate modifications. If you are rehabilitating an injury or chronic condition, please let your instructor know. Seek medical clearance before beginning, and start with private sessions. Certain medical conditions may require proof of medical clearance prior to beginning private sessions out of an abundance of caution for client safety. Please call the studio at 850-607-2772 if you have any questions.

What are your pet policy?

We love pets and partner with the local Humane Society for Paws & Pilates. Unfortunately, in the interest of safety, we do not allow pets in the studio. Pets and exercise equipment just don’t mix very well.

Can I bring my child with me while I work out?

We do not offer onsite childcare. We respect and understand that there are circumstances when one must bring their child, however, for the child’s safety, our of respect of the other members of the class, and in consideration for our instructors' insurance, children need to remain in the lobby. We suggest that they be entertained with coloring, reading, or electronic devices with the volume off, as our staff will not be available to monitor them. Children are not permitted to use or play on the equipment in order to protect the integrity of the machines, as well as the safety of the child. Please note that Pure Pilates staff do not provide any childcare and is not liable for children who need to infrequently wait in the lobby during a parent or guardian's training session.

What is your return policy?

All class and private purchases are nonrefundable and we cannot extend expiration dates. Full-priced clothing and accessories may be returned for store credit or exchange within 14 days of purchase. Sale items are final sale.
